Anonymous Sources

We use anonymous sources sparingly and only when:

  • The information is newsworthy and cannot be obtained otherwise
  • The source has direct knowledge of the matter
  • We have verified the source’s credibility and position to know the information
  • We explain to readers why anonymity was granted

Verification Standards

Before publication, we verify:

  • Subject to our standards prohibiting misinformation
